Shobu Aikido Shrine

Shobu Aikido of Boston's main dojo was founded in the spring of 1980. The founder, William Gleason (6th dan) studied Aikido from 1970 to 1980 at the main world headquarters (Hombu Dojo) in Japan and also with grand master Yamaguchi Seigo Shihan. During that same period Gleason Sensei also studied Japanese swordsmanship as well as Japanese language, classical music, and Eastern religion.

It is the goal and purpose of Shobu Aikido of Boston to pass down the true message of Aikido and to nurture a better society by creating individuals of responsibility, judgment, and character. Everyone is welcome. Please come train with us.

Shobu Aikido of Boston is affiliated with Aikido Schools of Ueshiba under the direction of Mitsugi Saotome Shihan. Please read the ASU Handbook and our Dojo Etiquette handouts for etiquette guidelines.

Dojo Monthly membership dues are $100/month for adults, $75/month for full-time students. Family and couple rates are available (1/2 off). All rates include unlimited classes per month. If you are interested joining the dojo, please email us.
